Announcement on T1 POP
Dear fans,
We have duly noted the concerns of many of you over the launch of the T1 POP service and decided to postpone it until after Worlds 2024. We would like to take the time to clarify the background that led up to such a conclusion.
Since the beginning of this year, we have worked hard to resolve the DDoS attacks on our players’ streams. Nonetheless, Riot has not yet been able to provide a solution, limiting the channels where our players could connect with fans and generate personal income through streaming.
This situation led us to consider T1 POP as an alternate means for the players to communicate with fans and to make direct revenue. After multiple discussions, we decided to launch the service, and hence the announcement on September 16th.
It should be noted that in the past, we had declined offers from a platform that provided a similar product because of the evident potential cannibalization and of the need to protect the team during the season. However, due to the aforementioned circumstances, we had started looking into T1 POP and found that it could be a more suitable service for our team, but the timing of the launch had been moved back several times in light of the way the Summer season unfolded for us.
What we can to do better through T1 POP than the competing platform is as follows:
- Giving better revenue opportunities to our players.
- Allowing the team to engage with fans with more flexibility and no mandatory obligations.
- Offering better administrative and legal protection against malicious comments.
As an organization, it is our responsibility to help our players maximize their ability to generate income from a variety of sources and grow their personal brands, especially with the changes the LCK has made over the past few years and their full effect set to take place from 2025. Nevertheless, we agree that it is most crucial that the team and the fans focus on Worlds right now.
